The Solution: IsoBalance
The IsoBalance works in multiple stages. It begins with the SIDELINE app. The SIDELINE mobile app will be used by players and patients to quickly assess and estimate the likelihood and extremity of having received a concussion immediately after impact. The portable and stationary versions of the IsoBalance plates are used to collect and export specific data on the balance and concussion severity. CHOICE and MAZE are 5-minute evaluation tools to analyze a patient’s problem solving, short-term memory, and strategy & planning ability. The data generated from the patient’s use of the IsoBalance is then uploaded to the IsoGATE HIPAA compliant storage and analysis system. IsoGATE autonomously compares the normal balance data that is produced from perfectly healthy patients within the patient’s same demographic group (age, sex, weight… etc) to the performing patient and generates an electronic and printable summary. Concussion and balance rehabilitation software includes SPELL & PATHWAY, biofeedback analyzing software that challenges the patient’s postural control through physical challenges to be completed on the plate. The patient can supplement their recovery through the usage of the BalanceBelt, a take-home device intended to further improve rehabilitation progress through wearable microcurrent technology.
How It Works
1) Subject steps onto the highly sensitive, calibrated balance plate with feet placed on the marked guides.
2) The test begins with the subject instructed to stand still for 30 seconds and then a second test is taken with the subject instructed to close their eyes while standing still for 30 seconds.
3) Biofeedback from the plate coupled with the Balance Score application and IsoGATE data portal gives a report and records baseline data on the subjects balance and center of gravity. It can then compare the subject on a relative demographic scale including measures of sex, height, weight, age and other factors.
4) The subject takes the “MAZE cognition assessment” (part of Balance score application) test while the application records baseline data. This test assesses motor control and eye movement.
5) The subject then takes the “CHOICE cognition assessment” (part of Balance score application) test while the application records baseline data. This test assesses short term memory and decision making.
6) The final report and data is collected and stored on a HIPAA-compliant server for physician guided diagnostics and baseline comparison later on.
7) Concussion and balance rehabilitation begin with SPELL & PATHWAY, biofeedback analyzing software that challenges the patient’s postural control through physical challenges to be completed while on the plate.
8) Balance rehabilitation can be further improved at home through the use of the BalanceBelt. The BalanceBelt is a size adjustable torso band with built-in silver-stranded electro pads that connect to a microcurrent device. It provides the wearer extra electrical signals to the brain that supplement the body's relearning of where their actual center of gravity is.
